Catwings is an initiative for relational, situational, and performative art and research located in Leipzig, Germany. They are dedicated to organizing programs that focus on collective research, placing emphasis on the relationships between audiences, artists, writers, and cultural practitioners, and reflecting their situatedness. The name "Catwings" originates from a book by Ursula K. Le Guin, lending the initiative a playful and creative character. Much like the wings the cats, the Catwings symbolize the ability to embrace freedom and explore unimaginable worlds. The original book cover serves as the main source of inspiration for the design of Catwings.
